Serum compatibility testing with Clifford laboratories.
Many patients are well versed to what materials are not good for their mouths and their bodies, such as mercury silver fillings or nickel based metal crowns. Unfortunately, not many patients are educated by their dental professionals as to what the healthier materials are to replace their old fillings with. This is why before many of my patients embark upon the journey of restoring their old toxic materials in their mouth, they also want to be well educated and in control of the materials that are going back into them as well.
My personal approach to patient management is education. I want my patients to make educated and well informed decisions. I approach every patient with all the pros and cons of each material that we are selecting from, so that ultimately, with the guidance of the dental professional, they can select from materials that they are most happy with.
It is no secret that the more healthy and biocompatible materials are not as strong and durable as the more traditional dental restorative materials. The patient and myself must take many factors into account including, but not limited to, the patients current facial musculature, occlusal schematics, occlusal disease, bruxism, periodontal state, and missing teeth just to name a few. I believe the days have passed were the dentist operates as a dictator and the patient has no say as to their dental restorative material desires. I believe a well informed and educated patient can make all the necessary treatment decisions needed to take control of their dental health.
I work closely with several different medical professionals such as naturopaths and chiropractors, who help facilitate my patients who desire to seek dental material compatibility testing.
Some modalities they utilize are serum compatibility (blood testing), bio-feedback, and kinesiology (muscle testing):
